S2 wifi questions

OK...so my wife upgraded our BBs from S1 to S2. I'm in Iraq with no carrier signal, but there is wireless internet service where I'm at. Questions are:

Will I be able to function, data wise, on the wireless internet signal using wifi (ie-access BBOS, e-mail, BBM, etc)?

Would I still need the global chip/global plan activated?

I wanna hold off being excited until the ::bbos:: gods can confirm my rationale!

Ok...going out on a limb a little here. The Storm2 is a global phone, so I believe the WiFi will work fine for you. Members, please correct me if I am wrong.

I believe you are correct Orio....
Once the device confirms that it is not receiving its carriers data the when the Wi-Fi connection is enabled the device will then try to seek out a Wi-Fi connection if one is present.
