The app in question is PhonePlus Callback for OS 4.7.x ONLY (except Tour). I will say MobiHand went to bat for me and the developer agreed to allow me to switch this one time (moved from a 9630 to 9550) but since I am swapping my 9550 for a replacement, its worth its price the first time but I think its unrealistic to charge again for a PIN change.
I called Verizon Customer Service this morning and the agent took care of everything. He was fully aware of the defect/replacement issue, he sd I will receive a Certified Refurb unit with the repaired display. He also asked me to make note of the mfg date to check it is after the repair date that has been published so that I am getting the right replacement. I asked for AM NBD and it only costs $9.99 on my account. I have to travel several days this week and need it before I go.
hoping to hold out....and swap for a 9650...whenever that happens to want to show its face...
The app is called PhonePlus Callback. Its a nice app to have and while the developer did allow me to move from the 9630 to the 9550 they made it clear that the license does not transfer. I bought Bee Jive recently and it offered me the option to pay a few bucks more to have the ability to move my license as often as I needed it.
NOW, I ask what the policy is if its not clear on their page, and if they are going to be like that they really should make it clear or charge more to move the license around.
well it's a done deal for me. Called VZW and five min. later a replacement is headed my way on Monday

I got a call this afternoon around 4pm eastern time from FedEx updating me on my tracking, it will be delivered on Monday as well by 3pm. Not bad, and I thought I was going to have to wait until Tuesday. Great job Verizon & RIM, no hassle replacement and quick response to a problem.
I know that going to the store is a waste of time but being that I had one close I tried my luck... here is how it started.
A week before .428 was released for the 9550 I went to a VZW store in NYC because of this problem and the idiot CSR looked at my phone and told me that I had google maps loaded and running on the background and that was causing the screen not to respond... seeing how this was going I took my phone off his hands and left.
So I am a firm believer that if your are going to waste a persons time and give him/her some BS story at least make it sound believable so that you don't look like a horse's ass while doing it.
I was going to tell the guy what I do for a living and that I work with blackberry devices day in and day out but someone once told me not to argue with a moron because i would have to stoop down to his level for him to understand me and by that time he would have the experience advantage which would leave me exactly where I started.
So I called VZ and the rep told me to wipe the device and reload and if that did not work to call back, it just happened that .428 came out and I loaded it, the phone worked ok for some time but the issue returned, so now with this info and knowing that it's a defect, i am going to call again and get a replacement. I should have no issue being that this is the second time calling for the same issue.
My pile of garbage is donig this non-clicking thing in the bottom left of the screen. It makes making and answering calls a pain in the but. I called verizon and they didn't even make me go through the security wipe and battery pull stuff they normally do. They said I'll have my CLNR on Tuesday. Hopefully it already has the screen repair done to it. Also, does anyone know if this addresses the random sensitivity of the screen? There are times when I can't even scroll without clicking and other times when I have to press about as hard as I did with the storm 1. Sometimes it even double clicks. Anyone else have those issues?
Sometimes it happens to my phone the screen becomes unresponsive which is very annoying but it hasn't occur lately so i have my fingers crossed on this one.
I have not had any of the screen trouble. I. Half afraid to get my device replaced as it has been perfect except for under the outside glass cover but over the lens. So in between them is full of dust and distorts my pics.

I've been using compressed air, from time to time, to rid the dust and crap behind the screen and behind the camera lens.
Works like a champ.
As for getting a replacement unit, I'm right there with you... ever since I moved away from .320, I have not had any clicking issues with my S2. My girl friend has a newer S2 and I can tell the difference in the way the screen feels. Much more solid feel and responsive when its suppose to. Unless RIM does a complete recall, I think I will stick with what I've got.
Periodically, and always for the 1st 5 minutes or so after a reboot, my screen will become so sensitive that even the lightest touch will cause a "click"...real annoying. Hope this new/refurb takes care of this issue. :Eyecrazy:
Did anyone get the replacement phone yet and if so how's the hardware?
Mine due tomorrow....we shall see. Buddy of mine got a replacement without the "upgrade" and VZW rep said they have no way of telling if you will get the upgrade, as they just put the order in and the warehouse ships it. :duh:
They're sending him another..still not knowing what he will get.
I spoke to VZW...and they really don't know what gets sent...but I did confirm the email that BBLeaks posted is legit.
unbelievable...really.

I just sent my verizon rep a email and will see what she says
Running BB 9930 7.0.0.353
BlackBerry Certified Support Specialist (v5.0)
Same thing just happened to me. I received my replacement Storm today and it was the same one I have. So now Verizon is sending me another one overnight Fedex delivery. But they have no way of telling if it will be one manufactured after Feb.22, 2010.
Be careful and check the date in the battery cavity to make sure you got the right phone.
What a hassle
You gotta love Verizon![]()
