Hmm. I've never had a brick that JL_Commander wouldn't fix..
How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't Recognize The Device Is Connected - PinStack.com
http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/b...-pictures.html
There are a few more tutorials - the first one however is the one for people who's devices can't be read by the computer (Your case.. :P).
Sorry for all of the tutorials - I just want to help you get squared away.
That's funny JL won't touch it... I'm back to bad connection! Did you go and see if the drives ON your Computer (not whether dm will recognize) You can do this by clicking your start button and then selecting Computer. If your not seeing :F and :G drives (representing your phone and sd card) you either have a driver problem or a bad connection. I have done this so many times with my multiple devices that my usb ports on my computer are getting weak. The slightest bump will disconnect!!!!
If I may jump in here for a second.....
@T-Rob.
Do you know how to uninstall your USB drivers and then reinstall them?
Disconnect you BB from the PC before doing this.
On your PC's desktop, Right Click My Computer, select properties, then from the System Properties Window select Hardware. Now you will select Device Manager. In the menu tree look for Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Select the plus to expand the tree.
Plug your BB back into your PC
Right click My Computer, select properties, then from the System Properties Window select Hardware. Now you will select Device Manager. In the menu tree look for Universal Serial Bus Controllers and select the plus to expand the tree.
In the menu tree, under the listing Universal Serial Bus Controllers, Double click the title Blackberry Smartphone. From the Blackberry Smartphone Properties select the tab that say Driver. Now select uninstall. This will uninstall the properties that controls the way your PC detects your BB device. Your computer may want reboot. Allow it then after reboot is finished, connect your BB Device back to your PC. Your PC should reconfigure how it detects your device automatically.
Okay...then what?
I would have to agree...
I had the same issue with my phone on my MAC.
The usb ports work fine! The Phone charges when connected via usb and the phone is picked up by DM. All seemed to work great but the OS just would not load.
Used my wifes PC and it worked in one try...
Something about my USB ports, did not like to upgrade my OS. Even though it had worked in the past it was not working then.
Problem solved by using wifes PC.
No, it didn't recognize it.
I said "f it" and went to my local Verizon store and acted dumb. The guy told me to come back in an hour, which I did, and he had it up and running. I'm back to a totally stock .320, but it's up and running.
Just got home and plugged it in...the USB cable is working just fine. I see both drives now.
Now, I just have to reload everything...fun, fun.
One word!!!!
VISTA
Thank you Microsoft.

I've never had a problem with it before.
Funny that you mention that...I have a laptop that has XP on it...just don't use it that much anymore. I loaded DM on it and successfully loaded .451 on my phone last night. Went very smoothly. Debating if I should try that V6 or not. Gonna stick with .451 for a few days.
Thanks again for everybody's help. Not sure what the problem was...but thanks again. I really appreciate everybody's help.
So, get rid of Vista, is that the message here?
when you plugged it in via the usb, did you get an error on your phone stating "Reset" and then it rebooted?
Curious, cause that is what was happening to me a while back.
