Thread: Not impressed with Storm 2 returning for my original Storm

Got an upgrade to storm 2 after trying to return storm for broken screen. after 1 week of use i am not impressed. Not any better than original storm in my opinion even with the Wifi. I ordered a screen for my original storm and i will just replace the screen and go back to the storm 1 world. Plus i will go back to my contract with only 1 year left on my contract.

I have never personally had the Storm 1 but I love the S2, good luck..to each his own...sorry it didn't work out for ya!

be sure to put seanren78 hybrid on it.

IMO, I think the storm2 is just the storm1 with a better touch screen, more memory & wifi. Not gonna give up my upgrade or pay full price knowing storm3 is in the works.

I upgraded from S1 to S2 when it first came out. I would've been happy with the S2 for another year, but not the S1. Like mentioned before, more memory and way better screen = WIN!

I am not at liberty to talk about why I don't have the S2 anymore

tommy, did you do something bad and can't say why you lost your storm? It had something to do with the orange and blue pinstripes, didn't it?

Wow I'm surprised to hear this, I like my S2 way better than the S1. Much more stable, quicker and better screen.

I'm surprised as well. My S2 definitely beats my S1. Before you ditch it, load one of the hybrid OS to it, it makes a huge difference! I thought I had a defective S2 because the bottom were very tough to use even with them recognizing the touch. The first hybrid I used was Ooak's and it made all the difference, it still is strange that the OS can impact the buttons and screen click in the S2.

I think your nuts man. Its faster, has twice the App Memory, no memory leaks or if there is a mem leak its tiny. The screen click is a lot better and uses much better technology rather than a dumb single button that creates an inconsistent experience and over time will fail. The screen has much better color depth and warmth unlike the cold hue of the Storm 1. Storm 2 has Wi-Fi which is handy. Also, Storm 2 has a 16GB mem card which is double the Storm 1. The Storm 2 supports Open GL for REAL video games that are being developed.

THe Storm 2 will also be able to run the OS's that are released because the Storm 2 will be getting much more attention that the Storm 1 -- Storm 1 is getting phazed out.

The screen on the Storm 1 is terrible...the color, the clicking and not to mention the fact that it wiggles around -- left to right, up and down --- its just not a solid device in your hand ---

Send the screen back and give the Storm 2 a chance --- old habits always die hard --- I had an unlocked Storm on T Mobile that I put a lot of money in --- new mem card -- the cash to unlock it but just like you....A NEW Screen (make sure you bought the right version screen if you keep the Storm 1).
I left tmobile early, breached the contract which cost me $200 and switched to Big Red (who I hate---worst customer service and highest prices!!) just to get the Storm 2 and it was worth it 100 times over.

Trust me---keep the phone, put on a Hybrid because its fun and the screen clicks even better after you install one -- - Youll love the Storm 2 -- TRUST ME -- ill bet ya! Try OOAKDPC's .464 Hyrbrid or OOAKDPC's .464 Hybrid V2 -- theyve been the best for me -----

You will love the phone --- and rumor has it that Verizon is testing a OS Update .... 5.0.0.5XX

I have mixed feelings on the S2 myself. I rushed out and got the S1 and wasn't satisfied with typing on it. Worked with VZW to get the Tour at the contract price (I was beyond my 30day limit). The only issue I had with the Tour was the darned trackball. So I waited and got the S2 off of eBay a couple weeks before Xmas. I had the same issue with it as with the S1. I love the new screen, memory and features, but typing on a touch screen is not for me (finger tips are too big). I just can't deal with constantly having to correct my typing. So I'm back to my trusty Tour. Also, the Tour is much more responsive than either the S1 or S2. I've kept the OS updated on the S2 with every leak or hybrid I can find and it still isn't as responsive. The only thing I miss between the Tour as the S2 is the screen. But I'll sacrifice that over the ability to type faster. Hope this helps your decision. Bottom line, if you like features stick with the S2. If you like utility get a Tour. The S1 is not an option for me.

If you don't like the S2 then get a Droid

I think, I would like a s2 very much, but why shouldn't I wait till the s3 is out?

I really want the S2 but I'll save my upgrade for the S3, I hope its worth it.

Because it'll be about a year or so before it comes out and by then you can get ANOTHER annual upgrade!

No :laugh2: I didn't lose it, I traded it back in for a :tapedshut::tapedshut::tapedshut::tapedshut: !

If typing is the major issue, cough up a couple of bucks and buy yourself a copy of vlingo. It's a great little voice-to-text app, and the most recent version will work with most all applications (BBM, Google Maps, etc). It seems to get smarter the more you use it; as with all voice recognition software, the clearer you speak the better it works!

There is a demo version on their website that will give basic SMS, dialing, tasks/notes, and web search for free, but for other uses you have to buy a license.

I have a prettly long daily commute, and when using it in combination with drivesafe.ly (text-to-voice), and can listen to and reply to messages without ever taking my eyes off the road. For the most part, I only use the keyboard for short messages when talking to my phone might be innapropriate.
