I know its "officialy" impossible to sync OTA using BIS. But whats the easiest workaround ?
I know using gmail, google sync and outlook would be an option. But what other options are there ?

Maybe I am paranoidand please correct me if I am wrong. It seems that there are great apps out there not only for sync but e.g. for scanning business cards, converting text to speech and vice versa - but all involve external servers/companies. Do I want other companies read my texts, contacts, .?... such as funambol, thinkpost.net, ...or even google?!

Yes thats a bit paranoid. I just wanna get rid of plugging the cable in to sync every time.
I personally use Thunderbird, with Provider for Google Calendar addon, Zindus, and google sync installed on my crackberry. The only downside that it doesnt utilize the push technology. But you can set the sync interval within google sync to pretty much whatever you want. I have mind set to 30min.
I think you're making a very sane request: to keep full control of your own data.
You can install and run your own Funambol server: it's open source, you can easily download it, install and run it. You'll keep your data on your own server and still have everything in sync OTA and with push too, over BIS.

But then i have to leave my computer on 24/7 right ?
You might take a look at Nice Office, it might be just what you are looking for.
9.95 a month.. hmm I guess i will just keep plugging in. I would be willing to pay a one time fee but not monthly
There is a free version also![]()
Hey, thanks man, that's to my taste! Wasn't aware that I could set up my own server. I'm lucky enough, that I have both, private and business PC/laptop - while we are on BES in job, I was looking especially for a private solution, which your suggestions just seems to fit perfectly!![]()
I use ThinkPost Communications - Home which is based on funambol. it is $4 per month and well worth it. i tried using funambol and it screwed up my calendar so i gave up on trying free stuff!
