Thread: ZAGG screen protector

Just a warning to anyone who intends to buy a ZAGG invisible shield screen protector, or any other screen protector that is applied with liquid.

I have used Invisible Shield on all my 4 previous BB devices and even my wifes Iphone without issue.
Yesterday I applied a screen protector to my 9520 and found I must have had some liquid ingress to the bottom part of the screen where the buttons are. Now, even though the buttons still 'click' they don't work. The top part of the screen and rest of phone still operate correctly but of course without the bottom buttons the phone is completely useless!

So let this be a warning to Storm 2 and possible Storm users, keep any kind of liquid away from the screen!

I left my phone on a radiator all night and its still the same, maybe it will recover, I don't know. All I know is that my lovely Storm 2 is probably headed for the big scrapyard in the sky :17:

I installed the NuShield DayVue screen protector because it does not use an adhesive and no liquid is needed to soften up the glue like on the Zagg. The NuShield uses a tacky rubberized backing that sticks to the screen. The NuShield installs in seconds and can easily be readjusted without ripping off the display coating like the Zagg did to my friend's Black Jack.

Well unfortunately NuShield is availabe in the UK, would have to import.
I have never, until now, had any issues with InvisibleSHIELD and I must say I wrote to ZAGG customer services and they gave me a refund.
I still recommend their products - just not on a Storm 2!

i have has a ZAGG invisible shields full body on all my S1's (had 6 of them) and currently on my S2. Never has a probelm installing them. i love them. it fees like my blackberry is naked. Sorry you had a bad experience with it.

Got mine yesterday...applied last night with absolutely no issues...but was cautious about using too much solution because of original post...thanks.

I had the Zagg full body on my storm 2 and didn't have any issues. Of course I paid Best Buy to install it so maybe they know some kind of trick or something.

Does anyone have trouble using the charging dock with full body on?

Wonder if all Best Buys do it? I would pay extra to have them do it.

All the Best Buys here in VA. Beach do it for 13 bucks. They said even if I didn't buy it there they would still install it for $13.00. Go the the cell phone dept. and ask them about it.

You could also try asking @twelpforce on twitter (is best buy still doing that?)

Wow!!! No profit there :Eyecrazy: It's not hard at all....I guess a little scary for some...but follow the directions and it's pretty simple.

I learned from my Storm 1. I somehow managed to get a permanent wrinkle in the screen trying to get an air bubble out. At least the Best Buy people have experience, and if they fugg it up they just redo it with a new one.

13.00 on top of the profit they already made from the sale = profit indeed! I'll still gladly pay for perfection + I can just drop it off and go do other things and come back.

a litte short sighted in your thought..... 13 bucks gets you a perfectly installed ZAGG shield.... If they screw it up, they do it again until they get it right.... when we screw it up, we deal that tiny bubble, hair, spec etc......

I'd say they make maybe 35% profit on that 13 dollar fee...the rest is overhead and possible redo's....

I'm sorry....my thought was not "short sighted"...I have installed ZAGG shields on multiple phones, and it is no big deal. If you are not confident enough to do this yourself by following simple directions....then drop $13.00 and have someone with experience do it for you.

Don't judge...

profit is not a dirty word guys!!!! i would pay 20 so i dont screw it up and then pay another 20.00 for another screen protector. duh!!!

Do you guys that have the Zagg on your screen have any issues with the bottom buttons? I had the screen protector on mine that came with the Otterbox case and my buttons randomly wouldn't work. Just like the power was off. I want something over them too, not just the screen.

When I had the Storm 2 I had full body Zagg and didn't have any issues like that. The screen protector does cover the bottom buttons too.
