Thread: Storm2 Remotely Restore BBM Contacts Issues

OK Well I got my BB S2 can it of course comes with BBM 4.7 so I upgrade it to 5.0 so I can get my contacts back just like when I had my S1. However when I attempt to restore my contacts VIA a registered email address it says "Please try again later. Your device is being registered with the BlackBerry Messenger Network. This process should be completed shortly." At first I was like OK I'll try again in like 15 minutes...same thing. 12 Hours later and I'm still getting the same message. VZW had me resend service books, re-register the Host Routing Tables, and do a complete wipe of the device. RIM said they have no idea why this is happening and they've seen it with a few others and all they can suggest is to wait and hope it gets worked out. Do any of you have any idea how I can get this thing to work? I know many of you are way smarter than the reps at RIM and VZW. Thanks in advance!

Have you tried deleting bbm, then reinstalling again? If you have a recent back up on pc, may be try restoring thru dm advanced restore for just bbm contacts. I have had that happen and usually uninstall and reinstall of bbm works fine and fixes that.

I"ve uninstalled and reinstalled like 5 times. no luck. I'll try the advanced restore. But according to the front page of crackberry it appears there is a server issue at RIM...

Hmm ok. That would make sense then. Try the advanced for now and hopefully they address the issue in a timely manner.

Your not the only one. Everyone using BBM 5.0 is having issue doing a remote backup/restore... and it seems CrackBerry has mentioned it as well

I am having the same issue. Hopefully they will fix it soon.

Looks like the BBM messenger service that remotely restores BBM contacts has started to push previously saved contacts back onto BB devices. Mine restored a previously saved backup this morning around 3:00 a.m.

Michael, you are right, BBM5 was down partly and has now been restored. All backups should start being pushed out.
