I am having issues with my wifes playbook. When I plug into the pc it reads that it is not communicating with the device then gives me options to retry update or cancel I have read several threads about this most dating back to 2011.. We have reset and reloaded her playbook and OS. The cord is fine as I have connected my playbook to the pc and the desktop manager works just fine. In comparing the two the only thing I can see different in the two is When I get into the development mode she has multiple IP addresses. could this be the problem??? I am so frustrated i can load .bar apps onto her playbook just fine as long as i input the right ip address. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP
Its a little bit unclear on what it is exactly you are trying to do. Are you trying to sideload .bar files or are you trying to get the desktop software to recognize the PlayBook?
Have you tried resetting the PlayBook to factory defaults? Also are you able to go to options --> About -->OS Version . What version do you see there. On your PC open the BlackBerry Desktop Software and then go to the top right corner click on the "?" icon and then post back what version you are using.
Also when you plug it into your computer what is the exact message you are seeing?
When I first got my PlayBook the laptop would see it but desktop software wouldn't so I called rim ,with the help of a very helpful lady we discovered the fault was actually with the laptop not the PB. Try a different pc.
I have a 4G LTE palybook. I Bought it september/october lastyear. i Started using it in December. One day, i picked my playbook that waspowered off and it was so hot, i thought it will melt. It Did not come on. icalled Blackberry and was told by the incompetent person i spoke to that, ihave to call my carrier that, they are the ones to provide support. i called mycarrier Rogers and was told all support of the playbook is through Blackberry. Theagent i spoke to at Blackberry support could not find my playbook as he said hewas not able to find my serial number of my playbook. i spent over 2 hours onthe phone with Blackberry support. At the end of the call, the agent took myname, number and other details. i was told issue was escalated to their 2ndlevel support and that someone will be contacting me in a few days. I neverheard from anyone till this date. I called Blackberry in December and then againin January. i called my carrier again and was told if itwas a smart phone they can help but the playbook, that support is done byBlackberry. i called again today feb 18th 2013. I could barely hear what theagent was saying. Not sure where their support agents are located. I will tryone more time today and after that, i will go to the press. i have 5blackberries and 2 playbooks. i have never had any similar issue with any of myother tablets(Samsung and ipad). I am not sure what to do next. That is why iwill be going to different media source if I don’t get a resolution quick. It’sa shame that the support from Blackberry for their product is so bad. I had asimilar issue when i bought the wifi one also. The playbook is dead won’t comeon even when left on power source
