    Playbook and Gmail emails

    Hi,

Just picked up a nice 64GB playbook for myself for a bargain price and I have an issue with my Gmail emails not all showing....

I have about 50 or so email in my Gmall inbox but on my PB only the last 4-5 are showing, is there anyway I can correct this issue to show all those previous emails going back around 3 months? I've kept them as they contain important usernames and passwords and other such info.

    Mike.

    Mike.
The native email in the current Playbook OS will only support syncing back to a maximum of 30 days. There isn't a way to extend that. The Playbook does have a very good Gmail web app, however. I use that frequently.

When the Playbook receives the OS update to BB 10, it is rumoured that the sync limit will be dropped. Also, as Gmail is dropping the Exchange Active Sync (EAS) from their connection offerings, you'll need to set up using IMAP. It remains to be seen exactly what Gmail-specific features will be available (Labels?).

    Hope this helps. ~ecm

Hey Mike - I just saw your post and I am surprised there hasn't been an answer yet. You may have figured this out in the meantime, but here goes. What you have to do is go into the gmail account settings in the mail app and click the advanced settings tab. There you will see a setting for push email etc., and a sync time frame. The default is 7 days (low). You can change it to 30 days and that should get you the messages you were looking for.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers.

    Hi Gerry,

Many thanks for your reply. I'm currently using my Googlemail and not Gmail email address ending. I can't seem to find anywhere in the setting which allows me to edit the sync time frame to 30 days. Any idea's?

    Mike.
