    BB PlayBook 2.0 and BB10

I went into best buy today because it was the last day of the sale for a quick charger for the playbook. Best buy doesn't even have playbooks anymore. And when I asked why the guy said "discontinued ". BB10 coming out. So here is my question is the playbook with 2.0 going to be compatible with bb10. Or if I get the bb10 am I going to have to buy a new playbook.

Hello and good morning sajor! "BB10" is simply going to be another os upgrade that will be available for all Playbooks. I'm not surprised that Best Buy doesn't have any Playbooks available. With the great reduced prices that have been going on this past year, Playbooks are getting hard to find. Last, but not least, beware of getting any kind of good, true, real and informative information from knuckleheads at retail stores! Most of the time they have no idea what the heck they are talking about! With RIM focusing on the new awesome BB10 phones coming out this month, word on the streets is that we will possibly have the Playbook BB10 os upgrade soon after the handsets are officially announced on the 30th.

    Have a great day!

It wouldn't surprise me if we saw a new PlayBook out this year with refreshed hardware and BB10 as the main operating system.

Despite still being quality hardware, the current PlayBook is not being manufactured at the moment as far as I'm aware. The sales person is right that this 'line' has been discontinued - and that Best Buy probably have no more stock left.

But this doesn't mean that there will be no more PlayBook.

There has to be new playbook devices coming out this year, either with or without the new hardware on but playbooks must stay alive forever

Then my question to this is, are the current playbooks with the OS 2.0 going to be upgraded to bb10? If not and I get a new phone that has bb10 will I be able to bridge it with my playbook. Or am I going to have to buy a new playbook with bb10 at 3 times the price in order to use the bridge feature.

I don't know how bridging is going to work with BB10 phones.

However, the official BlackBerry channels have confirmed that BB10 will be available after the phones are launched as an upgrade.

It's great news for new users as well as those of us who grabbed a PB early on. The fact that it's still supported speaks volumes and it's a credit to RIM.

That is good news for sure. The playbook and a bb phone are awesome tools together. I for one use them all the time they come with me with ease and fit right into my pockets of my jacket. A 7 inch tablet is the way to go when your on the move Imo. And yes your right those people who grabbed a PB early on me included are very lucky. It looked at first like a fire sale but if they do the upgrade for the PB when one has a new bb10 phone this is truly a good marketing idea. It shows to me that RIM is dedicated to it's customers and I like that.
