Thread: Download error notification won't go away

Hi all

As the title suggests, keep getting a notification about a couple of failed downloads that appear in the top left notification bar every time I turned on the PlayBook.
I cancel / close them each time, but they keep coming back - any ideas on how to delete them permanently?

What are the exact words of the download errors?

The errors relate to android updates for words with friends which the game tried to get me to update directly from the PlayBook whilst playing the game.
Not worried about the update, but getting fed up with the failed download notification that really appears every time I turned on the PlayBook

Yeah, unfortunately I don't think the Android notifications can be disabled unless the actual Android has it built into its options.

I've had similar problems. Try this: Delete the app from your Playbook. Install the free app "Ghost Commander". Look for the app in the Ghost Commander and delete it (sometimes apps don't completely delete). Reinstall your app.

I believe he is talking about apps that he wants to keep. Sometimes these free Android apps are plagued with ads.

I have side loaded "words with friends" and foolishly noticed an update within the game which obviously didn't work as it is a native android update!
Problem is, I keep getting a notification in the top left notification bar saying that the download failed.
I have deleted and re loaded the "app" but this has not helped?

By re boot, do you mean tap the battery icon and press the re start icon? Or do you mean some form of hard re set or something?

I have read threads where people suggest pressing and holding down the power and volume + / - is that what you are referring to?

Yes. Have you given that a try?

What you are describing is what I experienced with another app. I finally security swiped my Playbook and they stopped, but apparently I didn't need to ! Since then, I've read about using the Free Ghost Commander app as I mentioned above and finding those hidden android files that keep the plague of those notifications coming. There is a specific "android" file that can be found. I suggest (from what I've read), delete the app, then find what's left of it in the "downloads" file (that's where it's coming from) in the "android" file using the Ghost Commander. Then, you are free to download the app again! Have a great day and good luck!

have just 'hard re set' the playbook, and will see if that helps?

if not, i will follow Harmeling's suggestion and just delete the app and see what else Ghost Commander shows up?
