Thread: Difficulty in Playbook Sideloading

Hi I"m a new member here. Just want to ask for help. I tried side-loading apps and games in my playbook (os 2.1.0.1088). Though I have installed some apps and games, it seems that it choose only what it installs. Most of the HD games or high-quality games cannot be installed, and it prompts "package cannot be determined". I think it has to do whether the .bar file is a zip file or something. Need your help guys here... Thank you very much!

If you are using our List Of Working PlayBook BAR Files then all of those apps have been tested. If you are using some other files there is no telling what the cause its. However, the most likely reason is because cause it was packaged for the wrong version of Android.

The .bar files came from goodereader.com..

So are you looking at just the .bar files?

Yes. Tried to install them with DDBP. And it prompts, "package cannot be determined".

Goodereader also has APK files which are for Android only. You may have chosen that instead of a BAR file. Or else, you may have a corrupt file. Goodereader isn't the best site for putting out quality control on what works or not. So you have to watch out.

Unfortunately not.. I just assumed your theories that those won't really work, and not all converted .bar files work successfully in playbook. It's just tempting because most of them are paid apps and HD games.

Right. That's why we maintain a list of working files. While you won't find paid apps there you can always post a request.
