Will there be support for external devices?

When traveling I really do need to be able to connect an SD card reader to copy my photos onto my Playbook and upload them to the cloud and/or copy them across to an external HDD for storage. Is there any indication that this will ever happen with the current Playbook?

I don't think they've mentioned any future plans for this...

No not yet, only jailbroken devices can do that at this time.

Thanks. Can a 2.1 device be jailbroken at the moment?

What a pity. It seems odd that a device that is basically capable of offering a very useful and sought after function isn't just enabled.

On the hopeful side, the word is that BB10 has the OTG drivers built into it, although no APIs to call it (yet). Quite possibly, it might come to BB10 phones first. If ti does, then OTG would be a possibility on the BB10 version for PlayBook. The PlayBook hardware can already support it. It just needs to be tied in with the OS.
