    Lightbulb PlayBook bb10?

So always keep myself updated on here and saw the dev alpha has an update with BBM now I also looked and saw you could extract and update a rooted PlayBook with the dev alpha update.

Now what I wanted to know was is it possible to update a PlayBook with os 2.1 to the dev alpha bb10 if some one extracted it? I know how to sideload if needed.

Yes it is possible. You don't even need a rooted PlayBook to do that.

Oh really? How would I go about doing it, would it be the same as any other os (I have updated my playbook and phone numerous times)? Just need someone to extract it now aha

The process is not the same as you would normally update your OS. I will try to have the .bar files as well as a tutorial on how to do that later.

That would be ace! I was watching the demo of bb10 it looks amazing and so fluid with the 'flow' and 'hub'. As soon as I heard about the dev alpha getting the update I was wanting it on my playbook aha

I had a go at this with one of the earlier releases. Didn't have much joy as when going through the setup screens the resolution changed to portrait and i couldn't select my wireless network.

If you need someone to test let me know and I will do it tonight! am desperate to have a play with the bb10 on the playbook

If you could test it that would be real good, the update has bbm and few other native apps so hopefully this will work on the playbook :d

Right, but don't expect it to be as fluid as what depicted on the videos, its still young and technically this version of BB10 is not meant for the PlayBook.

So I successfully installed bb10. On to my playbook but there's a few problems so I wouldn't advise people to update it, these are my findings:

    1. The screen turns off after about a minute of leaving it alone and to get screen back on you need to slide up from the bezel and slide all over the screen and eventually it comes on.

    2. There is no folder support atm so apps are all over the place.

    3. media player and browser doesn't load at all.

    4. You can only press settings along the top, orientation lock and wifi doesn't load when pressed.

    5. Android apps don't load.

    6. There isn't much difference there's still the tray sliding up and down.

    7. Camera doesn't work says its being used already when I have no other apps running.

    8. Iam now downgrading my playbook aha

    Hope this helps everyone

Right because what you are essentially doing when you do this process with dingleberry is creating a "hybrid". Although it does look like it installs, the old OS is still there and messes everything up.
