RIM is farrrrr long from anything these people publish out there.
Don't believe everything you read![]()
I hope you are right. I do believe the published figures and they are not at all good. I am a fan but my confidence is becoming rather shaky.
Again, I hope you are right but the figures have fallen off a cliff! I just hope that RIM has the resources to survive that plus they get BB10 and the new phones out on the new schedule without further delays. I just cannot understand how they dropped the ball with the PB. A fantastic tablet, I love it but even I am looking at alternatives.
After using the PlayBook and having multi-tasking and gestures, I could never use anything else. I picked up and messed around with a Samsung Galaxy S3 the other day and found myself frustrated with it as it was a one screen at a time device.

As I say, I love my PB but I fear for it's future development.
rafiki, what is there to fear?
Haven't you see the new development for the BlackBerry PlayBook, a new 4G PlayBook is coming this year, and according to our
Article: Exclusive: Leaked BlackBerry 10 2013 Roadmap a new 10" BlackBerry PlayBook is coming next year!
This is absolutely awesome news to my ears, and eyes!
I have and it us exciting stuff. I hope it will come to a successful fruition. However, RIM's financial health is not good. A takeover and a major change of direction have both been cited as possibilities in the financial press .
I know grimreaper and, as I have said before, I sincerely hope your articles are right and the financial press is wrong. We shall see over the coming months. In the meantime I shall continue to use and enjoy my PB.![]()
You are correct, however some people are in denial about RIM's current situation. The problem with this whole "doom and gloom" situation is that when people say that RIM is dead they are wrong. The facts do not support that at all, however on the other hand it would be silly to say that there are no issues going on at RIM. Clearly the facts tell us otherwise and RIM has even told us that. Bottom line is that RIM is a solid company. I believe that they will bounce back in time.
Technology moves very fast nowadays, and some companies stumbled when trying to predict "what next"? RIM is far away from being out of the game. They have a technology that I personally, love. I learn new tips and tricks daily and am able to educate others on new uses for the BlackBerry as I learn them. Someone gave me an android tablet last year and it is used nightly as a reader, but, irritates the heck out of me that I cannot swipe left or right to view notifications or open something else. The PlayBook is not perfect, but, it's perfect for me. I have a Nokia N8 and Motorola XT720 that sit in a drawer. I love my N8,but, not enough to relegate my BlackBerry 9780 to the drawer. The Bold is easy to use one handed and has been rock solid. I am not the only one that has made the BlackBerry my device of choice. Don't forget that news agencies and vulture fund capitalists love to manipulate stories to see failure over success. That way, they win in whatever game they are trying to manipulate. They love to sway the population to believe their views in many areas. So, make your own decisions and vote with your wallet. For now, I enjoy using devices that meet my needs and will definitely give the BlackBerry 10 a go. Sorry for the ramble.
An interesting 'ramble' but you are preaching to the converted. I love my PB and my Bold 9900. It's the unconverted that need to be convinced and I don't see that happening at the moment. It's not the 'vulture capitalists' who publish RIM's audited accounts nor make up the RIM sales figures both of which indicate cause for worry.
you are absolutely right, rafiki, I am just amazed how media can create "feeding frenzies" over any product when marketing departments salt the pot for them. If a product isn't being flogged by every media outlet, tech site, etc, it is rarely heard of. I guess RIM was sorely lacking in the marketing aspect of bringing product to the masses. They have to grease the palms of the ones with access to the masses and the old regime at RIM were too little, too late to realize this. Or maybe, too arrogant. Who knows, but, hopefully with the new CMO in place we will see a different presentation of the BlackBerry product. Maybe the next feeding frenzy could be a BlackBerry.![]()
