Thread: New User Please Help

I have currently been introduced to your site and was amazed at the things that could be done with the BB. I have currently wanted to sideload the apps, wordfued and word with friends. I have folled the instructions to a "T" and it keeps saying wrong IP or Password and the DDPB installer will not connect. Any suggestions out there?

when you connect your playbook to your computer, first make sure developer mode is turned on,
second, enter the ip address you get, you will have two of them, one is wireless ip and the other is usb ip, you have to use the one that correspond to usb if that is the way you pb is connected to your pc.

Password is the one you set once you turn developer mode on

I have actually tried both of them. Neither work and the password is correct. I have actually tried to turn off the BB desktop and it still comes up.

have you tried to sideload your apps with any other tool ie: BBHTool?

I was unaware there was another loader. Like I said, I am very new to the playbook OS advancements and appreciate the help!

Most BlackBerry PlayBook users choose DDPB, as it is the simpler tool to side load .BAR files, unlike BBHTool (latest version 2.4.9.7a) which is a bit more for advanced users.

ok, i have actually found out i was using the old Loader. I have just updated to the newest 1.0.9 that you provided in the post. Now when i try and connect my playbook it says "Java" is not recognized as an internal or external command, .... I have java on my system and am currently running Win7. Any suggestions?

Have you downloaded and installed the Java Runtime Environment on your PC?

Download it here: Version 7 Update 5

Please reboot your Windows PC, and reattempt to connect the BlackBerry PlayBook using DDPB (observing that the PlayBook is correctly connected with password matching on both ends).

download the attached file unzip it to any directory you want (desktop for easy access), edit PB installer.bat and input your tablet ip address and password in the right spaces, put your .bar files in the same place where PB installer.bat is, and double click it, if everything is right it should install the apps, if not it will tell you what happened.

post back if you have issues
