Thread: Playbook Mail and Smartermail

Hi Smartermail updated their server software last week and now the PB mail app wont get mail. No error message, just no new email messages since the update. My yahoo.mail account works fine on PB mail still

Yes, I know perhaps I should post this on a smartermail forum but that never seems to get any response

I was hoping someone here might use smartermail and perhaps know the answer

We need a little more information. What are your current mail settings? (please do not post your email address)

well the playbook originally did all the setting up simply by my adding my email address and password and i asked it to do it again after this problem started

the server address defined by PB is mail.xxxx.com which is correct and that hasnt changed, the port is 143 and encryption is start TLS , use push if supported is ON and sync is every 15 mins

these seem to be all the setting options available

the yahoo mail has self defined as an imap.mail.yahoo.com, port 993 and SSL and that continues to work fine

i have tried yahoo settings on smartermail server, but no joy

As you already found out the yahoo mail settings will not work for the smartermail mail settings. Whats the website for smartermail?

Im not allowed to post links, but it is smartermail.com

and my server is running 10, which seems to be what 'broke' the playbook account with it. However it didnt stop the blackberry curve mail still working, so for now I am bridging to the phone and reading emails that way, but its a bit of an awkward solution
