Thread: Downloading and Converting .Apk to .Bar to use on BB Playbook

Hey Guys,

First time post here, I have not read each and every thread there is in this forum, so bear with me!

I recently figured out how to run Android apps on the Playbook. I have read a lot of threads showing how to do this. There are also some threads that have a few Android apps converted into .bar. Now, my question is, HOW do I download Android Apps to my computer, and HOW do I convert them into the .bar files needed?

Hello kp11,

There are a few different ways to convert .apk files to .bar files. I would suggest that you start with our guide on how to sideload android apps. That can be found here: http://www.blackberryos.com/playbook...-os-2-0-a.html

Then when your comfortable with the sideloading process take a look at our growing list of already converted app here:
List Of Working PlayBook BAR Files

If there is an app that is not listed that is free let me know and I will convert it for you.

I'm trying to track down a BAR for UKEN's Forces of War, it isn't on the download page, and is a free app...any chance you could convert this one please?

Could you convert a working version of Skype with support for Video and Audio chat for use on the Playbook ? Thanks...

g-day people, I am running a mac, would like to use bah tool, but it is a windows application. can I run another apple friendly application to side load onto my playbook, if blackberry made laptops id get one...

Yes you can. Just use the the PlayBook App Manager sideloading tool on Chrome or Firefox... Playbook App Manager

and i"m waiting for google+ / baiduIME etc..

Skype does not work on any version of the PlayBook.

Something else to note. Here is a site that will convert apk files to bar files for free and then you can download them to your computer to see if they work... PlayBook .apk to .bar converter

Keep in mind, many converted apps may not work.
