With World Mobile Conference 2012 thoroughly underway, with that includes the launch of BlackBerry Video World by Rovi. If you know nothing about Rovi, here's a tiny scoop. Rovi is the owner of DivX which streams and downloads at a remarkable 1080p along with all the goodies that come along with Blu-Ray (i.e. chapters and audio commentaries). After the underwhelming support received for PlayBook users by Netflix, I believe that this may even be better and a big enough deal that within a matter of time, PlayBook owners will be saying "Netflix who?" as they gaze adoringly at their tablets and envious onlookers will wish they could only be this lucky.

A word of warning, the Blackberry Video Store is a Rovi powered webstore that is currently only available in the US. This site does not check to see where you are located and will allow you to register for BlackBerry Video Store and submit your credit card information, even if you are located outside the US. Although you can register at the site, you will not be able to download, rent, purchase, or redeem any titles or gift cards.

That sucks, lonedog. I do see you are located in RIM's homebase of Kitchener as well, so double sucks. But perhaps the reason you can enter info in the first place can be a sign that it is coming to Canada soon. You know how these copyright things work.

Oh gosh, I knew I had forgotten something, my sincere apologies. While yes, BlackBerry Video Store is currently only available in the United States, middle to late this year or so is when it will become available (that I know of) to the UK. This transition may include Canada as well and many other countries, I certainly don't see why it wouldn't.
