Hey bojomojo,
PlayBook apps are only downloadable through App World. It is possible to sideload beta apps and other apps like that. More and more apps are on the way to the PlayBook with OS 2.0 coming out on Tuesday so expect to see more then.
Jailbreaking (or rooting) is a pretty complex process so if you're not too comfortable with the possibility of bricking your playbook or having something go wrong with it, I'd advise you not to root it.

Thanks guys..
First, why is it expected to have more apps, something specific? or just because of the QNX based OS
Second, What is the difference between the android player, and jailbreaking and installing the android market itself.
Its expected have more apps as more developers embrace it as a platform. Jailbreaking allows you to manipulate the OS in ways that you would not normally be able to do. The Android player is something that is built into the PlayBook OS 2.0 Beta version it is not something provided by jailbreaking your device. As mentioned above we will be seeing the release of OS 2.0 for the PlayBook within the next few weeks. This will have the Android player capabilities built in.

Another reason it's logical to expect more apps is because BlackBerry ran a contest for developers to submit their new apps for 2.0 specifically and many, if not all, of the apps will be available as soon as OS 2.0 launches on Tuesday.

There are many, many excellent free apps. I don't know your circumstances obviously but most of the paid-for apps are, in my opinion, very cheap. I have found some very poor apps too, both free and paid-for. Did you expect everything to be free?
