You will want to talk a look at Kobo Books its the default reader. However, you may want to talk a look at this as it seems to be a popular choice among PlayBook users: Book Reader for EPUB and Kindle books its in app world for only .99 cents. Seems like a pretty good price to me.
I use the Kindle Cloud Reader through the browser. With that, you don't have to worry about converting anything or DMR protection. If you try it, just remember to open it in portrait mode...landscape mode does not work.
another vote for the cloud reader. If the native browser gives you difficulty, try the free simple browser app.
I personally use Book Reader for EPUB and Kindle books app for my BlackBerry PlayBook, available in BlackBerry App World.
This has been a very positive experience for my e-book needs, and this PlayBook application has provided those needs flawlessly.

I like the Book Reader for epub and Kindle too. HOWEVER, you cant use it for any DRM protected books. You have to employ methods of removing the DRM.
I am also looking at playepub, which is very nice. But it has the same limitation. You can only use it for books without DRM.
The cloud reader has different limitations. You have to be online at least to open the book. But right now it is the only way to read books borrowed from the public library at this time, for example.
If you have had a book reader before and already have a collection, or if you collect your books from non DRM sources Book Reader is in my opinion the way to go. Great support by the way. The developer is very active in the Crackberry forums.
