Thread: Unknown Network Error.

When trying to connect to some sites in the browser I get an error page 'Unknown Network Error. Failure when receiving data from the peer'.

What causes this and how can I fix it?

This is actually a generic error and can be a number of things. Here are a few reasons:

1. you are using the bridge browser to access a secure site like https://somedomain.com. over the bridge browser you must log onto the mobile site of that site if they have one.
2. You may want to check out secure browser it will allow you to visit websites that are constantly pushing you to their mobile websites you can check it out here: Buy Secure Browser - Download Secure Browser - Buy Apps from BlackBerry App World

Thanks ice. It seems to happen when I am logging into secure sites from the Playbook browser whilst running through my UK proxy. I need the proxy to access UK tv content from sites such as BBC iPlayer BBC iPlayer - iPlayer TV Home and Blinkbox Watch Movies Online & TV Shows for Free, Rent & Buy | blinkbox and also Gmail. When I do not use the proxy I can log in to these sites OK but, with the first two sites, because I am overseas the content is unavailable to me.

Right and I beleive that's what the secure browser app would help you do. It may be worth picking up.

I downloaded Secure Browser but it doesn't seem to work past the login page with the sites I mentioned. In Blinkbox for instance I fill in my login details on the home page OK but when I press the login button it jumps back to the Google home page. With BBC iPlayer after filling in my details in the login box and pressing Enter it just sits there forever doing nothing more.

It's a great pity because one of the main reasons I bought the Playbook was it's portability and HDMI function. I had hoped to be able to stop having to lug my big Vaio into our TV room to watch UK TV and films.
