PlayBook sales at Future Shops and Best Buy attracting a large crowd

It seems the Future Shop $199 sale of the 16GB BlackBerry Playbook is what many Canadians have been waiting for. Michael Clewley, the BlackBerry PlayBook product manager at RIM, took the pictures above at his local Future Shop and Best Buy Canada locations. To be completely honest, it makes my inner geek extremely happy to see a line of people waiting to buy a BlackBerry product. Most of these people are obviously gearing up for the holidays and what could be a better present than the best tablet out there?

With Walmart and Staples also jumping on the price slashing bandwagon, hopefully we'll see lines like this out in the states as well.

i bought one on thursday and went for my price guarantee the next day, loving it. i told pretty much everyone i knew about the deal aswell and two other people at my work bought one on friday. three people in that short a span is pretty good indication of things i would say.

just registered on the forum aswell to comment and be able to catch up on blackberry news.

I just bought an iPad a couple weeks ago knowing full well that the prices were about to drop on the Playbook. RIM is losing me as a customer I'm afraid. Between the outages, the pathetic thank you apps (that don't even work on all devices), and the fact that if I want to put an app on both of my phones I have to pay for it twice, it's getting difficult for me to justify staying with BB.

Definitely warranted points. App World is still a sub-par compared to the competitors, so there are many like you who have decided to jump to the iPad or a Android tablet. We are almost 6 months later and still no Skype, Netflix, Native Email, Native BBM, Ect.

At this point without the Android Player, the only thing the PlayBook has over the others is the ability to multitask so well.

i come from having a 3gs and my current phone is a lg optimus 3d. can say some apps are nice, but i would rather have something that isn't entirely app centric. playbook is nice for that reason. only thing i miss is maybe netflix.

the multi tasking really sets it apart from other tablets and makes them seem like a giant phone. the multimedia experince is really good too, i watch a lot of long youtube videos.
