Thread: Playbook won't turn off

I got my playbook over the weekend...and this evening after I pushed the off button the screen continued to glow - it is still glowing now after 10+ minutes. What can I do? I have tried pushing the on button with no luck. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried to reboot pushing the on button and both volume buttons for 10 seconds...no change I have tried to connect it to BB desktop but nothing is identified when I plug it into the computer I am trying to recharge it now.....

What happens when you plug it into the wall charger?

Couple things to try:

1. just let the battery drain out.Then charge it using the wall charger. If it turns on then update to the latest OS.
2. Hold the power button for more than 20 seconds and see what happens

Report back and let us know whats going on.

Thanks for your reply - there was no change when I plugged in the wall charger. Not even the charging indicator.
I just held the button down for about 25 seconds....and the screen went black. I re-pushed it after a few moments and it looks like it is rebooting. The battery is indicating only 16% so I have got the charger on - and it looks like it is charging. It appears to be working. Do you recommend that I put it on standby or turn it off again?

PS Just check for an OS update but it tells me I have the most recent.

Yes thank you so much - I left it on for a few minutes....went in and out of a few things and then turned it off. It did as it should and turned off and if now happily charging. This forum is wonderful! Have a great day/night depending on which part of the world you are in!
