Hi
Just got my PB yesterday...can I use skype on it? Thanks
As of right now there are no plans for Skype on the PlayBook.
However there is a workaround take a look here:Quote:
We currently have no plans for the PlayBook, we are watching the tablet market carefully and will soon be launching our iPad app, followed by Android for Honeycomb. The investment in a new platform is pretty significant for us, and we generally prefer to see if the product is going to be a success in the market before we develop software.
Hopefully the PlayBook will be a hit for RIM, and if so we will create a version of Skype for the product at that time.
Probably not the answer you were hoping for right now !.

We may also see the PlayBook get Skype around the same time Android does pending on whether Skype will submit their app for use on the Android Player. They may want to make a app specifically using the BlackBerry SDK.
www.faceflow.com is a cross o/s programme that offers the same as skype but with the added bonus of conference calls. The programme is free and can be accessed though your browser. Both need to join, as in skype. Playbook to PC, Android, iphone. PC, Android, iphone to Playbook. The developers regularly post updates and it would appear that there will soon be an app for all the platforms.

There is a misconception that the operating systems are at fault if an app does not work.
Apple apps do not work on Microsoft or Android. The same goes for Microsoft apps not working on Apple or Android. Android Apps do not work on Apple or Microsoft. Many developers only make the app for a specific operating system. Very few make it for all. It costs money to code and then the developers have to pay the owners of the operating system. Skype has been coded for Microsoft, Apple and Android. Not yet BB. However Faceflow uses the wifi browser, so is compatible to all.
Hope this helps
Faceflow does everything I need it to do. You should definitely give it a try.
Never heard of this....Thanks for the info. Will give it a try.
