Hi nkhmenon and Joe Jerde,
I was browsing the internet looking for general posts on the BB Playbook and came across this great post by PatRulesTheWorld.com. The post goes on about syncing the BB Playbook with your BB phone, I hope this is useful. I would past the link to the article but I'm unable to do so as I'm a new member on this site.
Here is the post by 'Pat' from PatRulesTheWorld.com
Just finished working with RIM on an issue with a Blackberry PlayBook and a BlackBerry 9700 with OS 5.x. The two devices would connect via Bluetooth but once they disconnect it would be impossible to reconnect without rebooting the Blackberry 9700. After spending some time trying to resolve the issue we thought there was an issue with the Bluetooth on the telephone -- but that wasn't the case!
Upgrading the Blackberry 9700 to OS version 6.x solved all our issues! So, if you have a Blackberry Playbook and a Blackberry phone make sure to upgrade the phones OS v6.x. Once it's upgraded you'll need to reinstall AppWorld (reinstall even though it finds it) and reinstall BlackBerry Bridge (reinstall even though it find that too). If you're using Microsoft Communicator with a BES you'll need to install the newer client v2.5.46c which is freely available from the BlackBerry website (oc2007_Desktop_2.5.46c).
Good luck, and enjoy your PlayBook; it's a fantastic device!
Hope this helps.
Yes, it's always best to upgrade to the latest OS for your device. If you have a device that can be updated to OS 6, go for it. It will help with future software and compatibility.
