The playbook isn't a replacement for the kindle.
The playbook is a more multi-functional device. You can read e-books, send/receive e-mail, use BBM, listen to music, watch video etc. Keep in mind you do need to have a BB in order to use BB-connect and get the most features out of the playbook.

With Android Player, BB Playbook will enjoy a choice of all major "readers": Kobo, Nook, Aldiko, Moon+, FBreader, DjVu VuDroid, Cool Reader, Amazon Kindle. However, considering the product placement of BB Playbook as a business-oriented tool for professionals, I believe there should be "native" apps that can handle ppt, chm, Autodesk documents and diagrams, maps, plans, spreadsheets and the like. So, if you think about replacing Kindle with BB Playbook it will be like replacing a TI calculator with a computer.

Ah, but then you would miss out on having my personal signature on the box. Selling the box alone could give you enough money to buy another PlayBook.

You can replace your Kindle with the Playbook...but not really depending on how you use your Kindle. There are a few drawbacks to the Kobo reader. For instance, you cannot load any epub, mobi or other ebook formats into the Kobo reader, so any books that you already bought on your Kindle or other sources cannot be read on the Playbook now. You will only be limited to those books that you buy (or have bought) in the Kobo store. Amazon is supposed to be coming out with a Playbook app, but thus far it is blatantly absent. So, while the Kobo reader will be an adequate replacement for your Kindle going forward, it leaves just about all of your e-reader past out in the cold.
