Yes, I use the bezel to bezel swipe gesture to wake the PlayBook myself most of the time as it is a nice feature to have.

Couldn't agree more. The power button was something the apple fanboys latched on to as something that totally ruins the PlayBook. I've read multiple reviews talking about how it has to be pushed super hard with the edge of a fingernail to make it work. What a load of crap.

It works just as it should. Not too easy to bump accidentally and not too hard to make it annoying.

Also, with the latest OS update and additional power options added to the battery icon, the power button is not as necessary.

What surprised me quite a bit was how some well known BlackBerry sites were dogging on the power button as well. That is one of the main reasons I even made the video showing how ridiculous they sounded. When it comes down to it, sometimes reviewers like to pick at something to make their review sound more open minded so they don't come across as not being subjective.

LOL... took me ages to learn the swipe-on gesture. My fault, I didn't RTFM, specifically the part about swiping all the way from top to bottom bezel.

The power button is a non-issue. From everything I read about it before I got my Playbook, I was fearing some horribly recessed button that needed a paper-clip to activate. Total mis-reporting... it's flush on mine (so you don't hit it by accident) and requires positive pressure. It's a lovely piece of design. So don't believe what you read in the press!

    Hi Joe,

Even though I do not own a BB Playbook yet, this would have been my ultimate argument, I mean who would want an on/off button sticking out like a sore thumb causing it to be accidently prerssed. I think its neat where it is out the way but easy to find. So great video and great argument, like you said the criticism is nil and the myth has been busted.

    Thanks again Joe.

    Thanks,

I have also noticed that the criticism seems to have tamed down a bit since I released this video. One really has to see it to understand, which is the main reason I made the video, because I like how the power button was designed.

Great Idea following up with the video, looking at it clearly showed that there was no problems in using the button.

Wonder what fault someone will find next? Possibly the charging port is not a nice shape or something! lol :laugh2:
