Thread: RBC reports that 250,000 BlackBerry PlayBook tablets sold so far

According to RBC Capital Markets Managing Director, Mike Abramsky, believes that RIM has sold around 250,000 PlayBook tablets since it's launch on April 19th. A note to investors pointed out channel checks that stated PlayBook sales have been steady. If the estimates ring true, then that means the PlayBook is outgunning the Motorola XOOM tablet. At the current pace of 250,000 units per month, RIM is on track to sell just over 2 million units this year.

With 250,000 units sold in about 30 days, it makes the recall look insignificant. The new BlackBerry products are going to give the iPhone a good run for it's money. If I had the money to spare, I would be buying lots of shares in RIM. I can see a bright future for this company.

Right, what makes the PlayBook a successful tablet in a market that is dominated by the iPad, is that the PlayBook is it's own creature. It's not a iPad replica. RIM was smart in making their own creation.

I only hope that Joe will get and share with us the info about where to get refurbs out of those 900 Playbooks found defective in Staples. I'm way too poor to pay full $499 for my unit, yet I feel the itch to go away from Android. The thing is I'm writing about QNX since 1996, and I started to write in my blog how wonderful BB Playbook will be since last year. Call it love not AT, but BEFORE first sight, LOL.

Just wait till this fall when a possible 10 inch PlayBook hits the market and there will be a lot of used ones at a good price on eBay. A lot of 7 inch users will want to sell theirs for a 10 inch. That would be the best time to save money on a PB.

And yes, QNX also on a smartphone is going to be amazing.

Yeah, let's hope. I also wish there would be a Playbook winning contest here for writing stuff about Playbooks that helps attract more customers to RIM, I'd be writing like crazy here and in my blog fineoils.blogspot.com (Joe, feel free to delete that address if it's inappropriate/against the forum rules).
I'd be writing about how I see future apps for PB (e.g., real-time stock ticker, serious (desktop-class) stats/prediction software for stock/commodities traders, full-fledged presentation software for executives, SAP, accountancy packages, PB-to-PB-to-BB communication and collaboration software; less games).
I'd be writing about advantages of utilizing great powers of TI OMAP5 in BB PB II or III, about advantages of having PC, Mac, Android virtual machines under QNX, so the integration of PBs into office environment would be easy.
I'd be writing about desirability of 10" PB in the shape of a netbook "transformer".
I'd be writing about the advantages of special edition of PB for cars, as automotive industry utilizes QNX installation already.
I'd be writing about QNX as the best critical mission OS to drive major Internet routers, ISS, Soyuz-TM spaceships, nuclear installations, Hadron Collider, early warning systems in defence, etc., etc.
Just promise me a free PB, and you'll see there will be tons of potential PB customers at your site, LOL.
As for QNX on BB phones, porting phone/3G/4G software might turn not so easy. Besides, policies of carriers are vastly different among markets, among carriers themselves, and on levels of secure communications.
