Thread: BlackBerry PlayBook to Join Forces With Skype Capability!

Well, if that isn't exciting news for future consumers of the PlayBook and fans of Skype, I don't know what it is.

The above picture was recently leaked and while at first glance it looks exciting because it's the first picture of the App World on the PlayBook, but upon closer inspection... There's an application for Skype! If you don't know, Skype has been available for some RIM devices but only on the Verizon network.

"While this doesn’t mean the Skype app will be available on smartphones not on Verizon’s network anytime soon, at least PlayBook owners will be able to enjoy video chatting/conferencing since distribution isn’t limited to certain carriers."

Hey, RIM is headed in the right direction if you ask me.

What do you think? Will the PlayBook be an iPad killer?

I don't think that it will be an iPad Killer, but it will definitely be a BlackBerry Booster.

I'm thinking that people are going to keep following the Apple trend even if the PlayBook is, as far as software capabilities goes, better.

The PlayBook is def going to be a powerhouse on release. A lot of Apple users like the iOS because it has been reliable, and they know what they are going to get. RIM has had a shaky past with OS 4.7 and OS 5 which destroyed a lot of people's faith in the BB operating system. OS 6 is better, and we hope QNX will be the OS that sets RIM up to bar with Apple and Android.

as a die hard BB lover, cant wait for the Skype app.

also desperate to enjoy and utilise android support which i thought started on the 6th of this month; still waiting for its deliverance as well as the o/s 2 update
