Is RIM Readying 2.5 Million BlackPads for this Year?
Can it be? Research In Motion is apparently looking to make 2.5 Million BlackBerry Tablets by the end of the year according to financial analyst Jeffrey Fidacaro of Susquehanna Research. While it is expected that RIM will possibly make an announcement about the BlackBerry Tablet next week during the BlackBerry Developers Conference in San Francisco the only details we have heard is that it will include a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen, WiFi, Bluetooth, multiple cameras, and maybe GPS.
The other big news is about the BlackBerry Tablet’s OS which is expected to be based on QNX (also expected to be announced next week). Much speculation about the QNX based OS has been going on for quite awhile now since RIM has acquired the company. If RIM truly does use a QNX based operating system on the BlackBerry Tablet then that would set the stage for all future BlackBerry devices and propel RIM back into the game with their competitors.
One example would be the yet to be announced BlackBerry Storm3 (not the refresh version) which has been rumored to have it’s own operating system and not BlackBerry 6, this rumor has been floating around for a long time now and if true, it can be a real game changer for RIM and a boost from consumers sales.
So does that mean the BlackBerry 6 OS has been nothing more than a stop gap until the next generation BlackBerry OS is ready to roll out of the doors in Waterloo?
Are you awaiting the possible announcements next week during the Developers conference?
