If it's not the BlackBerry Torch or the BlackBerry Curve 3G, it's the BlackBerry tablet dubbed the "BlackPad". We have not seen a real leaked image of this just yet, however you can see a mock-up in the image above. Is this going to be the official name of the rumored BlackBerry tablet set to be available for purchase in November...no, wait..September? We have to wait and see. There may be conflicting reports as to when the BlackPad will be released, but it seems we do have a starting price of $499. I would start saving your pennies now if you are interested in grabbing one of these units by then. RIM hopes to ship 2 million units by the end of the year.
Some feel that RIM is making a bold move adding a tablet to there already growing list of smartphones, but Apple's iPad really doesn't have any competition as of yet, although Google Android tablets are slated to arrive soon. How will the BlackPad fair against the iPad? Both are said to have the same display of 9.7 inches and the asking price of $499.
While the Apple iPad is primarily an entertainment device, RIM could possibly focus on a tablet for business. They still continue to have a strong hold on the business market with their smartphones, so why not add a tablet in the mix too?
