PlayBook OS Version 2.0.1.668 Now Available

With the formal announcement of RIM's new 4G LTE PlayBook, an update is also being rolled out. While the update is described as improvements to communication capabilities, it is likely that the update coincides with features announced on the 4G PlayBook. This update may sound familiar, because it was actually available last month. If you do not see the update right away be patient as it takes time for it to be delivered to your device. No, this is not the OS 2.1 update everyone is waiting for, but we like updates. Be sure to let us know your fixes and findings.

This is just indeed a maintenance update.. Couldn't see the difference against the previous OS but, since we like update, go update

Same here. I am not even sure it was a full 3MB. It started out that way, however I think it ended up with 2 items, instead of 3.

My playbook is brand new out of the box, it went through two updates upon initially starting it. As of 45 minutes ago a bubble appeared, software update in progress 315MB. So far painless, but I did notice that after the second update was installed, Need for Speed although listed in App world as installed, I couldn,t find it. After looking through various forums on the web, it seems some users have it some dont, with know answer as to where it could be. I presume its hidden somewhere but I dont see a games folder at all. Any answers gratefully accepted. Apologies if this is the wrong thread to post this question to (newbie). I will post if the update was completely painless when it has finished.

I was reading a post from Jon a Blackberry Project Manager on BlackBerry beta zone. He wrote that the changes are behind the scenes in preparation for 4G LTE.

Yeah, don't see anything new. Updates are nice though (generally speaking anyway). Definitely means they haven't forgotten us!

You should be able to re install Need For Speed via App World.

Still trying to install this update, failed twice on wifi and twice through a dedicated dsl, the download itself seems to get stuck at various points the latest attempt got up to step 25 and hung there for three hours I know the line is not at fault, as I can log in fine . So is this a RIM problem specific to the UK, where I am at the presently ? As to the Need for Speed, should I delete then through app world and re install assuming of course I have an OS on my Playbook after all this and dont have to reinstall from scratch. Any advice gratefully accepted..

I would wait until you have your update stabilized before you delete, also make a backup first as this update for you is acting squirrelly.

I believe that's normal for the beta version, just a 3 MB update.

3 hours in at attempt number 5 ,on step 48 but the green bar isnt moving, I am beginning to doubt my purchase, 24 hours ..for an update that might or might not prove worthwhile.. I think it would be a better idea to let you download and save this file and install at a time when you want to.

The non-beta update isn't to 2.1. My wife's PB now shows 2.0.1.668. Initially I misread it too.

I live in Spain andI have 2 playbooks, a 32 gig and a 64 gig. The 32g updated OTA with no problems. The 64g does not offer me the option to install update niether OTA or via the desktop software.

When I check for updates OTA I get the “You currently have the latest software installed.” message.

When I try via desktop software I get the "There are no Blackberry Tablet OS updates available." message. I currently have version 2.0.1.358!

    Any pointers please?

Have you rebooted the 64G PlayBook?
