Thread: 8230 Rebooting?

I'm not incredibly familiar with the 8230, at least not to the point I am with my Tour. My daughter's is fine. No issues whatsoever. My wife's however reboots randomly. During phone calls, during data use, when idle, etc. At least twice a day.

I thought it was a memory issue. I've deleted all but base apps and installed the latest and greatest OS from VZW. Nope...

I've looked through the event log and found nothing that would help me. Of course, with some of it, I have no idea what it is.

Next? Power? Yeah I thought that too. I changed batteries from the two flips and the wife's still reboots. I've checked the contacts in the device as well and no build-up/corrosion.

Is anyone else going through this? I'm clueless at this point as to what is causing it! :aargh4: :banghead: :dunno:

Hmm.. only thing i could think of is there is an app or something in there. I would say if its still doing it take it back and tell them to replace it.. its not a year old yet right?

No she's only had about three months. She's ready to bail on BB and I'm trying to prevent that.

yea go get it replaced. transfer only most important things..

I'll back it up on her PC first. When I replaced my Tour Tuesday they wouldn't transfer anything in the store. I had to wait til I got home for contacts, etc.

You are better to do that anyhow.. those cellbrite machines are junk

According to the "supervisor" it's now against policy to connect a BB. :laugh2:

I don't think thats true... but all the celbrite can safely do on a BB is contacts and unforunately because people want it so bad people are using the cellbrite to transfer pics and text, pics gets dumped into the phone application mem and txt can sometimes cause the ghost message indicator. I recommend asking only to have your contacts transfered. I have seen many times someone take a curve or pearl with pictures in the phone and swap it out and move the pictures right back into the new phone leaving it with little mem. I have also seen people take phones like a voyager and sync the pics to a storm... the voyager has more internal mem for pics than the storm has free app mem therefore the phone is toast!

Also don't use BB Desktop Manager unless you are going to do an advanced restore. It is possible to transfer the problem from your old phone to the new phone. So make sure you only restore very important things like the custom word dictionary, calendar, contacts, bookmarks, etc... Try to get away from transfering messages I transfer my sms but I don't usually recommend it. Also maybe someone else can verify this but I always sync the learning input data because I'm guessing it has to do with the suretype learning system???
