Sal is back at it! He's got himself (and us) a closer look at the "Striker" 9100. One of the benefits and only benefit I get from people about the pearl is that it can easily fit in your pocket and not feel like a brick. While I have never liked the pearl's I do have to agree with Sal when he says this phone is pretty hot looking. Holding the phone, he compares it to being the same as holding an ipod nano. One of the obvious seen changes, and expected is the removal of the track ball for the track pad. RIM has stated that the track ball will be faded out and some how, they are living up to their word on that. The back of the 9100 is similar to the Storm 2, which makes the device look more appealing (i think). The screen is a brighter, improved screen compared to its older brother pearls; however is not as good as the Storm and the Tour. According to Sal, typing is very easy, if you are used to typing suretype keypad. Another great added feature is the 3.2mp cam with flash.
The 9100 that Sal has is running on 5.0.0.350, stating that it is an early stage OS for the 9100; at the same time it runs very smooth. Since the 9100 will be on a 6.0 platform, apps can't really be downloaded and work correctly (at the time). Estimated release date is around April of 2010, and to be released (pretty sure) with AT&T and Rogers.
