Network Independent BlackBerry Storm & BlackBerry Curve 8520?

RIM has issued a press release announcing the availability of network independent BlackBerry Storm and BlackBerry Curve 8520 smartphones in India. It appears RIM is targeting shoppers early this year, stating "These two competitively priced, network independent smartphones at Redington retail outlets across the country are supported by a wide range of pre-paid and post-paid options via our carrier partners, and make wonderful gifts during this festive season.”

Hi Rahul, this is my first time on the forum. I'm the proud owner of a network independent 8520 (bought at Vijay Sales in Mumbai). I've been experimenting a bit, loaded OSv5.0.0.238, good OS, but had issues:
    1) incoming call screen is barely visible (black font on dark blue background,no contact pic)
    2) missed several calls (phone didn't even ring)
    3) multimedia screen is like a folder (no video, music icons, etc)
    among others...
Otherwise the OS was neat! Noticed you've experimented upto V5.0.0.323. Can it be used on the 8520?

    Thanks!
