Thread: 5.0.0.252 (9500) device simulator released !!!

If you havent noticed it yet.... with the release of the widget sdk, Rim has released the 5.0.0.252 (9500 series) SIMULATOR!!!! download it from the blackberry website!!! :beerchug:

Gonna be easier now to test themes for 5.0 compatability!!!!


Just a side note... theres a .252 sim? and no .252 leak/ release ???? strange we havent seen this yet!!!

lol, I just noticed this as well. Download is almost complete. This is good news indeed.

i been messin with it for about 15 min now.... seem this "os" has some issues. I get alot of lag, and its locked up on me twice... but all in all it still a 5.0 os so itll help for the most part...

its also got a kick ass new feature!! when u load you theme cods, it automatically pops up asking if you want to apply the new theme !
(no more flippin through the menus)

Where on the RIM website do I download this?

Yeah the theme popup is a 5.0 OS feature. It's very nice. Have you noticed the ability to rotate the phone using the mouse? Really handy! Also a new graphics acceleration mode.

no i didnt ... gotta check that... im lookin through the java files right now see if theres any changes since 230...

which... i found the default theme cod is ALOT smaller. 230 has a 3.1mb theme where 252 only has a 2.5mb theme. wonder what they changed. it all looks the same, but when i opened the theme cod file theres 10 less sibling cods. so they either found a way to shrink it or they removed something!

Link doesn't have the entry code, therefore the link just goes to an error page.

We just need a way to make the simulator dump the .jav files off of it so we can build stuff with it!

a simulator is used by theme builders to simulate their theme on a device... in this case they get to see how it would run on a 5.0 OS.
