The way I see this weather people like the idea or not, RIM has to expand sooner or later. They can't just be focusing on smartphones. Soon that market will be heavily penetrated and by then it's too late as they run out of finance and resource to develop a new products.

Companies that brings innovation to the table at shareholders meeting tends to do well in the long term, whereas company that are too comfortable will just fall hard.

Back in the 80s Apple were a huge thing but they died out for two decades until Steve Job came to the rescue with new products like the iPod, iTunes Store, iPhone, iMacs and etc. which revived back the Apple brand. Today Apple continues to be successful by adopting new products and adapting to new changes.

There is also news that Google and Nokia is expanding to the net book market as well, I can't see why RIM can't compete in this market as they are at an advantage right now.

You said it right there.. no one minds them getting there hands in but to create a windows based netbook isnt going to help them at all, unless they integrate the bbworld into it, i.e- bbm on the netbook, push. I think everyones gripe here is the fact that rim is not being innovative and just taking the passive bs route out.

I think this COULD be good. RIM needs to take there own approach on this...not just put there logo on a device. I guess only time will tell.
