Flash and Microsoft Silverlight coming to a Blackberry near you
RIM is planning on incorporating full Flash and Microsofr Silverlight into the Blackberry Browser. This has been rumored for quite some time now but this is the first that has been seen of an actual statement from RIM. The article broke on The Boy Genius Report and they claim that they have been researching this for quite some time. The article also points out that RIM is only in the planning stages for Flash and Silverlight, so it will be some time until these features are actually seen on any devices. So realistically don't expect this Flash and Silverlight on your device until next summer or right before that. The reason behind the length in time is that RIM needs to bulk up their devices and the devices need to be able to access higher data speeds for the features to work properly and effectively. This is a very doable thing since RIM has already achieved 10Mbps downloads on future generation Blackberrys using LTE equipment in lab tests. So while it is still a bout a year until we see Flash and Silverlight on an actual Blackberry, we will see it eventually and RIM is already in the process of being it to the masses.
