Curve Named Top Selling Smartphone in US...Surprised?

The Curve Series from Blackberry has been named the Top Selling Smartphone in the US. This includes the 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330, 8350i, and 8900 models for all the US Carriers. Not only was RIM able to grab the top spot on this list, but they also took third with the Pearl Series, which included the 8100, 8110, 8120, and 8130, but did NOT include the Flip Series. They also took fifth with the Bold and sixth with the Storm. Pretty impressive to take 4 of the top 10 spots on the list, especially with all the other phones that have come out this year.

While some may argue the point that other phones are better, or have a wider variety off applications, or more features, RIM is still managing to keep themselves at the top of the list!

The Top 10 Selling Smartphones in the US are:
10) HTC Touch Diamond
9) HTC Touch Pro
8) Palm Pre
7) T-Mobile G1
6) Blackberry Storm
5) Blackberry Bold
4) iPhone 3G ( 8gb & 16gb )
3) Blackberry Pearl ( 8100, 8110, 8120, 8130 )
2) iPhone 3Gs ( 16gb & 32gb )
1) Blackberry Curve ( 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330, 8350i, 8900)

*The research and findings have been provided by IDC, and they will be releasing final numbers on this will be released at the end of this month.

I am not surprised at all :) The Curve is a great phone and very solid. Never had one issue with it when I owned it. Battery life was good and everything worked.

My wife and I got curves 8330 from verizon for our 1st blackberrys, it's been 2 months and it's safe to say neither of us will ever be without a blackberry again.

I think these numbers are a bit skewed IMO. What I mean is they lumped in like 7 Curve models instead of breaking them out by model number. That being said if they included both models of the iPhone into one they would have first place, by a lot. Funny how numbers can be deceiving, even though I do think the Curve is a great device.

I can definitely believe that 4 out of the top 10 selling devices are Blackberrys and it makes a boat load of sense that the top one is the Curve. Think about how many people you see with them and there is practically a specific model for each carrier. I wonder if the 8520 would be grouped into this category as well. I am sure that will help the Curve a little too. And isn't it interesting the Storm is up there. I mean how often do you hear about people trashing the device saying how they can't stand it, or it sucks, or this or that. Obviously it isn't that bad.

and P.S. you never ever heard me back talking the Storm... thats my device and I am stickin to it!!!! well that is until I get another Blackberry. But that being said I think it is a decent device and am satisfied with it!

That is pretty strange since they are the #4 carrier in the US.. Considering switching to T-Mobile myself so maybe this is a sign that they are growing :)

If they grouped together 6 different Curve versions why didn't they combine the iphone 3g and 3gs together.

Maybe RIM did they survey and is trying to talk up the Curve series.
