BlackBerry To Launch BES 10.1 As Cloud Service
BlackBerry announced the availability of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10.1 last month at their annual conference. The update provided wealth of new features to include a regulated level EMM, and high availability. BES 10.1 also prepares the foundation for BlackBerry's Secure Work Space that will begin rolling out this summer.
According to a report from ZDNet BlackBerry have begun testing BES 10.1 as a cloud service. "We are making BES 10.1 available as a cloud service and have several companies in trial," said Pete Devenyi, BlackBerry's SVP of Enterprise Software. BES has been BlackBerry's core strength over the years and having a cloud option simply makes sense. This is not the first time BlackBerry has dabbled in cloud services, we have already seen this in BlackBerry Business Cloud Services that is integrated within Office 365.
The growing trend to move in-house services to the cloud is something that BlackBerry is looking to take advantage of as well, and is quite desirable to companies looking to have their data travel through BlackBerry's secure NOC.
