What happens to os7, after BB10 is launched?

I really like the slider format of the 9810, and it looks like Rogers is selling them off. I have been trying to wait for BB10, but I don't see any news about a slider format in the new phone line, so I keep looking at the Torch, but I wonder whether the OS is already an orphan.
I did not find any other thread on this question. Does anyone have news or advice?

I'm a Sprint customer so I never got a chance to even own a 9810 (I really, really wanted one!). There have been rumors on a BB10 slider, but no real evidence as far as I know. To answer your last question, I can see support for 5-7.1 os's to be around for years to come. Too many people (millions) own these phones for them not to. If you ever hear anything different, let us know! Have a great day ad thanks for posting!

I would hold out if I were you. OS 7 devices are already dated and are pretty much end of life. Waiting for a BB 10 device will be worth it, I too like the slider format, but am willing to sacrifice that for an OS that is top-notch.

I've heard they will continue to support for 18 months at least but that is not official

18 months seems unrealistic. The new BB10's are the BlackBerry phone of choice now, but there are too many users who will still have older models for years to come. We have users on this site still rockin' 85xx models and up! It's definitely in BlackBerry's best interest (which should be us!) to support older models (in some capacity) for a long to come.

Especially for those of us who have 7.1 and can still sync with Outlook for mail, contacts, and calendar plus bridge with the Playbook. I will give the new BB10 phone a good review but from what I’ve read so far about what is not there that I have now…… well time will tell as to how long if at all these features will be updated to work with the new OS and phones.
