The founder of the company The Astonishing Tribe (TAT), has left RIM to seek other business opportunities. Jakobsson announced via Twitter that he would be handing things over to others at RIM. TAT has been a key player in RIM's new BlackBerry 10 user interface, and is well known for its innovative UI designs. RIM bought the small Swedish design company in December of 2010, and has relied on their creative minds to help make BlackBerry 10 a success.
Although the departure may seem like a hit to RIM, it is likely that the departure will have little or no effect on RIM's BlackBerry 10 devices. BlackBerry 10 is already well on its way to becoming a reality to consumers, so it would be unlikely that RIM will be doing a complete UI overhaul at this point in the game. Jakobson also noted that others would be taking on his roles, and the TAT team remains confidence that business would continue as normal.
