Looks like RIM is still interested in the concept of fuel cell technology. The company has just filed for two similar patents one for the frame of a device and the other for the fuel tank itself. Now if your like me then you may be wondering if having some sort of fuel tank on a mobile device is safe. Not to bore anyone with a history lesson, but the concept of fuel cells have been around since the mid 1800's . Since then it has been used by NASA and other companies for commercial use.

Either way patents are a nice way to see what direction a company is heading in their R&D department. Could this mean longer battery life? Will we one day have to charge our devices in the same way you would charge a butane lighter? Very interesting to say the least.
