HIRING: iOS Apps Developers

We have been seeing and hearing things like RIM will bring BBM to iOS and vice versa. However, there is no certainty that this would be in effect in the following days. When RIM released their Job Posting for an iOS Apps Developer, most of the speculations discuss that it is about bringing BBM to iOS platform. All these have no answers yet and are still a "hear say" but the real question here is that:

Why RIM is hiring an iOS Apps Developers?

It is still unclear why RIM is hiring an iOS Developers but some Blackberry enthusiasts say that it is because of the Blackberry Mobile Fusion that was previously announced by RIM last November 2011 which objective is to help improve the development of this product offering. Having said that, it is more likely a good idea and a big help for RIM, given the consumerization of IT and RIM’s efforts to hold on to enterprise clients that might be slowly slipping away from it.

Below is the clarification that RIM has made to AllThingsD about this whole thing:

“As you are aware RIM announced BlackBerry Mobile Fusion on November 29, 2011 and the job posting you are referencing is to help continue the development of this product offering,” a spokesperson for the company said. “In order for BlackBerry Mobile Fusion to perform advanced management functions for iOS devices, RIM will develop an on device client to be included as part of the overall solution.”

I would imagine that it could give them a little insight into their way of thinking by doing this. They're already getting some Android exposure with the new player and ported applications. Makes good sense to me

Just read the article, I think it's a brilliant idea, and why not?

RIM is thereby expanding into the iOS market using BlackBerry Mobile Fusion in an effort to bring in new and/or hold onto customers who use either mobile platform.

When a company has products that can be accessible across the global mobile spectrum, it benefits the company as a whole, and customers in the end are satisfied to stay with RIM, and not to make a choice whether to stay or go.

Interesting enough, that job posting via LinkedIn is no longer active, I guess they found a successful candidate?

There's a bit of speculation out there that RIM could be looking in to selling BBM to the iOS crowd as well.

This keeps getting rumored, but it would be such a dramatic move I don't think it will ever happen.

I agree on that. BBM on iOS platform will never happen in my opinion. Its just not.

I agree Joe. Blackberry is wise to hire iOS designers to get ideas to make the blackberry more desirable to the iOS crowd, but they must remain focused on why the became the number one business device in the world. They must stay the course in order to remain the number one business device in the world.

That's just speculation you know.. No certainty at all and as for me, its not really going to happen..
