Android And iOS Fall Short To BlackBerry In Corporate Security
Security has always been a key attribute when businesses decide on a mobile device, but has this mentality changed? Is security really the number one priority for corporate environments? A recent poll taken from
Check Point Technologies may suggest otherwise. According to the survey results 89% of the people interviewed have their mobile devices connected to a corporate network. Of those results Apple and BlackBerry devices were the most common mobile devices used to connect to their networks.
According to their detailed findings Apple's iOS accounted for 30% of the mobile platforms, narrowly surpassing BlackBerry as the most used mobile platform. So Apple's iOS has gained favor among corporate users. What's the bid deal?
Now for the important part security, lets not forget about that. Android leads that pack in this department and Apple's iOS is pretty close second at 36%, because they both simply have
way too many security flaws.
In addition 71% of the people surveyed stated that mobile devices have contributed to increased security incidents. So what does all this mean? It means that corporate users are sacrificing security over amusement. Now this would not be such a big issue in the normal consumer market where security is not as demanding, but when you have a company that has millions of dollars in information its a different story. Users are simply giving up a superior BlackBerry device in relation to security for an inferior Apple device with all the bells and whistles. IT Administrators and CIO's need to be asking themselves if the trade-off is really worth it. I think not, stick with security over amusement when it comes to your business.
