BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 Native Email, Contacts And Calendar Pictures Surface

A few weeks ago we gave you a report with details from the BlackBerry Innovation Forum 2011 in Washington, DC. Unfortunately we were not able to snag any pictures from the event that showcased some of the new features of the upcoming PlayBook OS 2.0. However the folks over at blackberrycool were able to capture a few shots of the native email contacts and calendar. This confirms what we already reported and promises a huge change in the way we will be able to utilize the PlayBook.

Although a bit grainy you can clearly see in the picture that the email client has been completely reworked. I have seen this myself and can tell you that this is something that I am definitely looking forward to.

In addition, the calendar has also been given an extreme makeover. Its worth noting that all of these changes are not just cosmetic, there are many new functions and features that we can expect to see as well.

Last but not least, the contacts section has been refreshed. The concept behind the new contact section is to make it more like the one we see on our current BlackBerry's. It will have the social integration and since it will be powered by Gist you will see many of those features in it as well.

Needless to say it looks like RIM will be delivering on its promise for a revamped PlayBook. We can expect to see PlayBook OS 2.0 in and around February 12th of next year. I'm looking forward to it, are you?

It's good that they are updating the PB OS. I'm not ready to consider buying one yet. However, this is good info. I'm wondering how smoothly the data transfer is on this device. Do people on this forum who have one of these find it to be user friendly?
Come see how I corrected jvm error 545 on my smartphone.
