The BlackBerry Innovations Forum in Washington D.C. provided a ton of information about the future of BlackBerry. Aside from the official information, we did heard a couple of cool rumors today as well. The main one was about the future release of the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 in the Beta Zone sometime in early January of next year. It will be a private invite-only beta for PlayBook owners that will give them access to the 2.0 OS that, according to other rumors, will be released to the public in mid-February.

The exact date and number of users to whom this beta will be available is still unknown, but hopefully we'll get more details as the date gets closer. It'll be great to actually get to see native email and the Android Player on the PlayBook at the same time and if this rumor ends up being true, some of us will be lucky enough to experiment this in about seven weeks.

It's great to see RIM take advantage of a strong community, like the Beta Zone, and use their feedback to better the user experience. We've seen some amazingly solid apps come out of the Beta Zone recently and hopefully we'll be able to add the PlayBook 2.0 OS to the same list of successful betas.
