Almost two months ago, Dolby filed a lawsuit against RIM for infringement of their audio technology patents. Today, Research In Motion has signed an agreement to pay Dolby royalties for the use of these patents. So now that these patents are being paid for, I'm hoping RIM will make the most out of them to keep the sound quality of our BlackBerry devices top notch. The only official statement released is below:
We are pleased to welcome RIM into Dolby’s family of mobile-technology licensees
- Is it a big deal for RIM to have wrapped up this lawsuit as quickly as it did?
