Thread: QNX Superphone to come with front facing camera for BBM Video Chat

The rumors of a BlackBerry coming with a front facing camera have been around for a long time. Most BlackBerry users (myself included) have been clamoring for this to happen since the first Torch came out. Truthfully these recent BlackBerry 7 devices should've come equipped with front facing cameras and video chat already, but unfortunately what's done is done.

Today, sources have reported that RIM is taking the idea of front facing cameras, and video chat integration via BBM, very seriously. Video Chat over the BlackBerry PlayBook works extremely well so we know RIM is capable of doing this efficiently. Let's hope these rumors end up being true and we can have some awesome video chat capabilities on the new generation of BlackBerry devices.

• We know what most of you will say, but we'll ask anyways. Do you want a front facing camera on the new QNX-powered BlackBerry lineup?
• Will these rumors stop you from getting a BlackBerry 7 device?

For sure this is coming to QNX devices. And I agree, this should have already been implemented in these OS 7 devices.

Does anyone know the configuration/look/size of the QNX devices?
1. Will there be tooooo many models on the street for RIM to manage adequately and respond to?
a. With the departure of two key managers what does this say about the direction of the products. If it is so good at RIM why are they leaving?
b. If QNX is the future and competition killer why come with OS7?

2. Where is RIM going?
a. Who and what is there market focus?
b. What are the companies strengths and how do they rate now?
c. Do they actually solicit consumer feedback for improvement or other?

3. To wait or go with OS7?
a. Will 7 die once QNX hits the streets?
b. Will all models transition to QNX? I have like and support the Storm and
await the 9860 (hopefully w/Verizon).

So, with carrier plans locking you in for multiple years it makes the decision easier. I would've loved to see a f/f camera on these newer models which begs the question (Does want to LEAD or FOLLOW)? I will go with OS7 because I am tired of waiting. RIM is making it hard to stay loyal.

Hey PB, looks like Verizon is getting the 9850 on the 8th!

I may sell my 9930 and get the 9850 depending on how I like it once I try it out.
